Two days seminar on
“Recent Advances in Novel and Cosmetic Technology” at Institute of
Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur
Two days seminar on “Recent Advances
in Novel and Cosmetic Technology” sponsored by University Grant
Commission, New Delhi, was held at Institute of Pharmacy, Pt.
Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur on 19-20th March 2007. The
Chhattisgarh is known for its rich heritage of medicinal plants
diversity, especially medicinal plants. So this seminar was
organized to expose this otherwise inaccessible and unrecognized
area so that more such researches would be carried out for the
ultimate social and economic benefit of the state. Prof. S. Saraf,
Director, Institute of Pharmacy, Mr S.J. Daharwal, and Dr. (Mrs.)
Swarnlata Saraf, Reader, Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar
Shukla University Raipur were the chairman, Co-Chairman and
Organizing Secretary of the programme.

Raipur was chief guest for the inaugural function, Prof. V. K.
Dixit, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. H. S. Gaur
University, Sagar, was the key note addressee.
Programme included five scientific sessions and a poster session.
Various topics covered in the scientific sessions were current
status of neutraceuticals, Herbal Cosmetic technology - an
overview, Experimental designing an era of optimum scale up,
Microencapsulation-an Industrial Approach and Current challenges
and Future prospects in new drug development. The lectures of
experts and an open discussion on contemporary scientific issues,
particularly on Novel and Cosmetic Technology enriched the
scientific aptitude of participants. The seminar provided platform
and exposure to young researchers and participants.
In the poster
session, around 76 posters were abstracted out of which 46
participants presented their work. Best Paper awards were given to
Mr. Amol A Tagalpallewar of NMIMS University Mumbai and Mr.
Shailesh Jain of Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla
University, Raipur.
In the valedictory function, Prof. R. S. Gaud, dean school of
pharmacy and technology management, NMIMS University, Mumbai
graced the function as key note addressee. He bestowed good wishes
to organizing committee and all the participants and distributed
certificates of participation to all the participants. At last
local organizing committee extended the vote of thanks to all
delegates and invited guests.
Second Position
in IPA National elocution competition 2006 (IPC Mumbai)
Mr. Abhishek
sharma, student, B.Pharm IV Year won the 1st runner up position in
the National Elocution Competition 2006 organized by Indian
Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) on the topic “Current challenges
and future prospects of community pharmacist” during 58th IPC at
Bombay exhibition centre, Goregaon, Mumbai on 2nd December 2006.
This event is organized every year for students of M.Pharm and
B.Pharm to promote awareness among students that concerns clinical
pharmacy as a practice.
